ENGH, Dr. Espen

FCI Groups 3, 5, 6, 9 & 10 (Sighthound Specialist)

Dr Engh received his first Greyhound at age 4, and at 9 was exhibiting his first show dog, Int. Ch. Jet Commander, to an international championship. He began breeding dogs in 1975, and in 2001 and 2003 he owned, bred, and handled Norway’s top dog, all breeds.  His Jet Greyhounds have produced 132 homebred champions, more than 400 champion titles in 39 countries worldwide, more than 30 BIS winners, and a spectacular seven consecutive generations of BIS-winning bitches. Dr. Engh considers the establishment and continuation of this line to be his most important contribution to the sport. 
Dr. Engh is approved to judge all Sighthounds and has judged in 47 countries at hundreds of events, including several FCI World, European, American, and Asian shows, Crufts, more than 100 prestigious specialties, and the Skokloster in Sweden, the world’s largest Sighthound specialty. He has authored chapters for books on Sighthounds and has lectured on breed histories and standards. Dr. Engh is a veterinarian and heads the Department for Animal Welfare in the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. He received the Norwegian Kennel Club's Silver Mark, Honorary member of the Norwegian Greyhound Club, NKK's breeders' price 2002. He has recently been licenced by the Norwegian Kennel Club to judge Best In Show at International All-breed Shows. He has judged in many countries all over the world including USA, UK, Australia, Japan, all countries of Scandinavia, and extensively in Europe. He has been fortunate enough to judge many of the rare Sighthound breeds such as the Chart Polski, the Magyar Agar, and the Spanish Galgo and has also judged Sloughis in Morocco.

Owned and bred Greyhounds and Whippets. Speaks fluent English and has judged in Australia, Belgium, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA. Honorary member of the Norwegian Greyhound Club, and earned the Norwegian Kennel Club's Silver Mark of Distinction

Started breeding Scottish Terriers in 1972 and has since bred 115 champions. He has owned and bred champions in Pekingese and Labradors which he currently breeds and shows parallel to his Scotties. Has judged worldwide in more than 40 countries, and officiates at more than 30 shows all over the world annually including several FCI World Shows. 
Former President of The Swedish Terrier Club and The Swedish Scottish Terrier Club and past Member of Breed Standard and Judges' Committee in Sweden. Judged at Cruft's in 2003 and is a member of The Kennel Club in Britain. Owned and bred Top Dog (All Breeds) in Sweden 2001 and one bitch of his breeding was R/U BIS at Cruft's in 2004. Interested in most breeds of dogs and has been fortunate to have met many great dogs and breeders on the international scene. Approved to judge most breeds under FCI rules.
