In 1978, they purchased their first show dog, an English Cocker bitch, who finished her championship and immediately went to a pet home. As happens many times, they came to the realization that she was not without her major faults. They did go on to better breeding, finishing many champions both in Canada and the U.S, competing well at specialties.
In the early '80's, they were involved with Lhasa Apsos for about five years, again finishing many champions in Canada and the U.S. They had good friends who raised English Springers and Pomeranians, and it was there that they took on yet a third breed, Pomeranians, and later a few co-owned Springers. They also owned German Short-Haired Pointers here and there, mainly for exhibiting, as well as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, again American and Canadian champion and much-loved companion.
While they maintain a fondness for our other breeds, it is with the Pomeranians that they had their greatest successes. Their home-bred dogs, owner-handled, have placed in the top ten dogs in Canada. They still enjoy breeding and finishing their puppies, but no longer campaign dogs.
They are charter members of the South-western Ontario Sporting Dog Club, assisting with specialty events each year, and have judged in Ireland, U.S., Venezuela and Australia, and the Spring Fair dog show in Australia, 2005.

First dog as a teenager, a superbly natured GSD, who has spoiled him from ever having another one, as he believes that to compare would be unkind and any replacement would be hard to match in intelligence and devotion. He sees evidence both judging and observing people at shows, whom he believes sadly, don't LIKE dogs "as dogs"... they see them as extensions of their egos with a "Win at all costs" mentality with animals trained to be robot-like with no real relationship between handler and canine .. those few moments in the ring possibly being for the dog, the most intense contact and attention they have received all week. Has been involved with the following breeds: Pembroke Corgis, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Old English Sheepdogs (honoured to have been invited to judge this breed all around the world at specialties), Afghan Hound, Bichon Frise and Whippets - the latter over the last 10 years. Bred a NZ Grand Champion in  first Whippet litter. Honoured by peers by being elected a life-member of five clubs and Patron of four . Been judging since 1976, gaining All-breeds licence in the late 80's and has fortunate enough to judge at shows all around the world, including England, Scotland, Wales, Eire, Holland, South Africa, USA, Canada, South America, India, the Philippines and in every state of Australia, and of course in NZ.

Sue began showing dogs at the age of ten with German Shepherds, progressing through the years with handling various top winning dogs in the specialty ring. She gained her Group 5 license in 1978. Having judged throughout Australia over the years she then went on to become a National Council recognized breed specialist judge after completing some rather arduous exams. In the late 80`s she purchased her first English Cocker Spaniel as they had always held her interest. She showed this boy to his title in North Queensland but her passion for German Shepherds stayed with her for many years to come. In the mid 90`s she became more interested in the cocker then owning a little girl, - once she bred her and started showing her pups successfully she was well and truly hooked and has not looked back. Her whole life is now dedicated to this wonderful breed and she owns eight Cockers, plus four more with friends, including one they imported from Sweden. She hopes the future is bright for them at Cobalt English Cocker Spaniels.
Sue has judged in most states of Australia and numerous times in New Zealand. At present she has 4 championship Groups 1, 3,5 & 6 and is working on Groups 4 and 7.
